There was a decent response for Joe and he didn't seem especially put off...it's also that the crowd was utterly surprised by Yachts, songs were instantly memorable and their stagecraft was great too. We thought the bass player was going to pull his amp over as it took every inch of his cord to get to the mic to holler "HEY" in Look Back in Love :)

Probably my fave Yachts song. I was at all the gigs merseymusic53 mentions and many many more right up to their demise. Have some great memories, used to sell merchandize at gigs for them...Still have some live tapes of gigs somewhere. The Yachts album is a classic every track superb..My fave band for years and just fantastic live...Sigh...Rocky was a legend

One of the best gigs ever - Yachts opening for Joe Jackson at the University of Victoria (Canada) in 1979. Joe was the headliner but was outshone on the night by the lads.

Really top notch, fun band - remember regular Yachts gigs around London, Marquee, Dingwalls, Nashville, Music Machine, Hope & Anchor - can still see 'Rocky' Watson singing this as if his life depended on it, whilst Henry Priestman did his quick step bit in the striped shirt, whilst playing that unique/obvious organ sound, and Martin Depsey pounded out a mean bass line. Great times !

Power pop/new wave band with the memorable song "Yachting Type". "Easy To Please" comes from the 1979 S/T release. Keyboard player/vocalist Henry Priestman went on to play with It's Immaterial and The Christians.
