Not a broach!

The X99 is a great boat but sometimes a bitch under spinnaker. Well recovered. Not sure if they released the vang in time, but must have been a fun sailing day!!
-
but they also can be righted almost right away with no consequence

learn how to handle it on a smaller boat like a 420 and get a hang for it. Tehe consequences are not bad at all and it is more challenging than on larger boats because you will most likely be steering the boat with the tiller in between your legs while flying the chute. When I get bored i try to singlehand my 420, have the chute up, on a reach, while trapezing (i have a modified long tiller extension). Who cares if you capsize?

Love the first part, good weather, good boat, hull speed, beautifull. Re: second part, they got it down, I call it a win.

HIKE bitches!

Some days are like that:)

mnpd007 : I never fly it, unless in very light airs. The forces on the rig are terrible if the wind gets up.

The spinnaker is the most unforgiving sail imaginable when things go wrong. Apart from in very light airs, I have always hated the damn things. In strong winds, never use them close to obstructions. If the wind gusts, the spinnaker sails the boat. Be careful.

Who is the idiot in the dingey? Boats racing and you cross their bow!
