You can build it yourself for around $40K. Kit cost $20K , Engine & firewall fwd $17k Basic avionics $3000. The fabric is Ultra-lam its has a UV coating already on the fabric so you don't need to spray any other protectant on it. Any dirt & oil just wipes off. not like your other coverings like Dacron. The fuselage is made from tubing & steel construction covered in Ultra-lam fabric & fibre glass panels. Prices are in Australian dollars.

Um, I mean the CH701, not the low-winged 601... But thank for informing anyways :)
-
good luck with that. Google "zenith wing loss" and get back to us.
-
I'd rather take my chances with the all-metal Zenith. In my personal opinion, I don't really like that most of the plane is made from fabric, from top to toe...
-
drivers lic cost that much?
-
That plane is a joke!

Absolutely, A-240 is a great competitor for X-Air. In fact they sold something like 4 times more in 2011. And don't forget S-6LS, also a great airplane, and very safe. Still, I know someone who is quite satisfied with his X-Air and takes it to all kinds of backcountry strips. I think X-Air has its place.

60,000.00 is not bad, a kitfox will cost you about 70k done with a 914

@Brn2FlyUL Hey thanks for the info man. To be honest with you I had never seen a plane that looked like this before, so I couldn't see why anyone would want to pay so much for it. Thanks for the info.
-
@MuslimComputerTuts It actually has a 80 HP Jabiru Aircraft engine. Very well respected and on of the top LSA motors on the market. It has Heavy duty Sailcloth on the wings, strong and light.
-
@loveEncsi You can get a lic to fly the x air for as little as $1500 and can carry passengers.
-
Oh yeah! I can't wait to pay $60,000 dollars for a lawn mower motor, an aluminum futon couch and some trash bags over my wings. Get that crap outta here.
-
@eurofighter47 the licence for that costs a fortune, i think that's why
-
What about KitFox's they are awesome.
-
$5000.00 more and you can own an Aerotrek A240.
-
Nasty looking wing tip. I don't like the wrinckles either. 60K is alittle too much. I saw the xair F on barnstormers as a little as 8K. Sure, not the same plane, EXACTLY, but, very big difference in price. Of course, the 8K is used.
-
@0815tobey About $13,500.00
-
I'll take a used 1970's metal plane for less money.
-
This gives me a bit of hope that I may be able to afford a new airplane someday. Hope this generates a lot of affordable competition.
-
nice video! Its an interesting aircraft and also a nice overview of the plane

X-Air is trying to deliver on the promise of a low-cost LSA for affordable, fun flying. Just before he left at the end of Oshkosh Airventure 2010, AVweb's Jeff Van West took the X-Air LS up for a flight.
