Stena explorer is lovela
-
if i remember rightshe was docked in holyhead for a good few month about 2 or 3 years ago looked in real bad shape
-
BUT it's ugly compared to the one's made in Tasmania Australia & much SLOWER only 40 knots unlike tassies 58 knots, 107 kph & a much sweeter looking ride :) .. been on 2 of them .. the Sea cat & Devil cat.. least they don't look like a floating BOX on water unlike this "thing"
-
is this fast ?
-
Didn't look very fast. Just farfing about at a few knots.
-
The design is shit

Nice design. So futuristic. Too bad she is now withdrawn from service and most likely will be scraped.
Her sister, the Stena Discovery, was sold to Venezuela in 2009. She is now on her way to scrappers in Turkey.
The third sister, Stena Voyager, has already been scrapped (2013).

Nice video! I had always wanted to try out the HSS since I read about it many years ago. I finally got that chance a few years ago to travel on Stena Voyager round trip Stranraer - Belfast. I wonder how the HSS performance and economics compare to one of the more recent GT fast ferries, namely Buquebus Francisco from Incat and using the same LM2500 GT.
