BTW.... Capt. Hill Norvell! Thanks for busting the waves and taking that beating so we could keep up. I see your website has the "2 Day" boat now! Well deserved blessings! I will be back in Seward again some day. I will charter with you because you "earned" it.

Back story you didn't know about. Was a pretty rough day, but not so bad for the 22' C-Dory unless...
Left Humpy headed back to Seward. Honda 40's, (2 of them) cut out. Every time we came down the wave and hit the trough (sp?) they quit. Worse yet, they had a (as we later found out) habit of controls not hitting neutral a known defect. Honda mechanic give us the low down on our compounded dillema. When we hit the trough bottom, oil in sump would splash just enough to give low oil cutoff. The real problem was the controls had to be moved many times in, then out of neutral until it would hit neutral. Engines will not start until you are in neutral!
Sideways in 5 footers just wasn't going to work. Saw the "One Day" across Resurrection from us and asked for his help. He came right away. His arriving words on the radio were "you guys will be fine you are in a C-Dory". He was our wave buster that day. Reason for throttling so much? We couldn't keep up! Now u know the rest of the story. -
Fuck. old people can sleep through ANYTHING!
-
Who said small boat i n trouble? If it was
rough and you were bigger than me i'd follow you back in too, -
Fairly typical weather for Resurrection bay, the C-Dory is following the bigger boat so it breaks up the chop for it as it's fairly flat bottom
-
its not that bad we fished salmon in worse
-
Why they play with the throttle so much, I will never know. Set your speed for conditions and forget about the throttle.
-
if you always fish the forecast you will never go fishing!
-
Vas es dat Heinz?
-
Gotta love those old men. Hardcore fisherman falling asleep in rough seas.
-
Embrace the sea guys, freaking sleeping? Id be on the front of that boat soaking it up!
-
Nothing worse than getting caught in a storm in the ocean not fun
-
Its a 22 C-Dory from the looks of it.
-
crybabies, my open 14' dory with a Honda 10 hp. out- board has dealt that level of seas numerous times. solid but rather wet.
-
boat should of had no problems, just new captains on both boats
standard conditions for much of the ocean I go with 23 ' center console. -
should have had a stabicraft boat best small boat
-
the cdory looks like its handling things fine to me
-
silly c dory
-
It(school)can teach you to spell, type and correctly structure a sentence. You must have slept through those lessons. Ciao.
