So which is it? Massive engine room, boat engine room, vacuum motor, what? I can guarantee this isn't an engine room.

There is nothing for you to plunder

I'm a marine as well and I miss that sound

vacuum cleaner motor.

Engine sound ... the word "OM" of the modern world....
-
Doesn't sound like any engine-room I ever served in. You put a big Cummins main engine and 2 Cummins DG's on-line, plus the big ventilation units, and you had best have some hearing protection on!

This is great because I work on a research boat every weekend because I'm a Marine Biologist and we stay on that boy for 3 days straight with that loud engine. It prepares me for sleeping
-
I can smell it.........

Sometimes, this is my soundtrack for drawing.

This brings back memories, low rumble of the shaft then hit a good size wave the whole room would shudder. Still waiting for someone to say "Next Watch" #1 MDE Standard Bell

That's not the sound of diesel engines..
The loud hum, reverberations and ambient noise that the boat engine room makes is perfect for blocking out unwanted, annoying and distracting noises that you may be subjected to. The white noise the engines create is useful for those who have sleeping troubles or insomnia, the rhythmic sound helps create an ideal environment in your brain for sleeping. Babies can also benefit as this loud noise is similar to those noises they heard amplified in the womb and helps create delta waves in the brain that are associated with deep sleep. Meditation enthusiasts and those who want to attain zen like spiritual states can reflect, empty their mind and transcend space and time using the engine room to aid their trance. Students can also use this to block out unwanted distractions and increasing concentration for study.
