Taking waves comfortably is a balance between planing and displacement. The amount of water displaced (in forward motion) is equal to the amount of weight distributed to that area of the hull designed to cut through each wave without lift. So if your taking a pounding in any boat you will need to either slow down, reducing the planing effect, or move ballast forward. Trim tabs are an excellent addition allowing you to control the bow angle, or force the nose down in rough seas and get the cutting part of your hull working without having to loose your plane. All this being said if you add the beam width factor, giving you amazing stability and the fact that you also achieve lift with the tunnel, allowing for less drag and better fuel efficiency, the cat is definitely worth checking out.

The ride looked very uncomfortable and a bit shocking LOL! No reason for one to take such a pounding.
-
Saw the T top rattling... Cats don't pound my AZZ 🙃
-
Guarantee the gelcoat is a mess after that ride. If the builders could just come up with something that is more flexible yet sturdy it would be great. The polynesians tied their cats with rope so they give.

I've got a 246sf and we outran a 30 foot Grady back to OC Inlet to avoid a storm in 4-6 foot seas no comparison in rough seas

-
25ft boat?
-
I have a 35 Marlago that would eat that sea up and run rings around that bouncy cat

Ausome footage. Clearly shows just how smooth ridding theses hulls is. If you watch clossly just how the guys are NOT thrown around between swells. Its all in the footage,,,this film doesnt lie. ps- wrong power thow.
-
Great boat but he should have trimmed the power down lower to keep that bow lower in high seas. !! ps-im a pro ocean boater.
-
Cats all the way.
-
Why then are the vast majority of offshore racers cats?
-
Dont agree! I drove both and i like the deepV much better. We have right now a Fountain Fishing Boat with a stepped hull and i enjoy the eastern Atlantic Coast every Weekend with a smooth ride:-)
