@ Bluelinespeed, tweekers are fitted, and yes the crew recovered well despite the dent in the foil!!
-
Incredibly stupid not to wear life jackets!
-
Fit some "tweeters" from the deck to the spinnaker sheet, this will lower the sheeting angle to the spinnaker and help you control/prevent the spinnaker roll in large seas.
-
They were very lucky not to break the spinnaker pole and the forestry with the crew member releasing the guy like that... Start with the kicker/vang, then the spinnaker sheet. Do not adjust the guy in the event of a broach.
-
Yes, you can see the Guy/Brace hitting the forestay. We found a decent dent in it after this! :)
-
Actually, i think that's not a real good recovery... They should have: - Release the boom downhaul at the very first moment (immediately) - NEVER EASE THE GUY! Before the broach they might have: - lift up the pole - tight the "tweakers"
-
Cause they just avoided a chinese broach. I'd be happy at that point.
-
WOW. It is interesting the dangling tug of war preceding the broach, the 1-2- 3- uooops, rule seems at work here. I am asking if a more up wind attitude could possiblu have cured the thing BEFORE it was going ..upssss.
-
THAT IS THE CALMEST REACTIONS AND SORTING OF A BROACH I HAVE EVER SEEN - WELL DONE
-
The skipper sleeps again.......

Grish change sides?
-
where was all the yelling that usually comes with a broach recovery?
-
pity about the forestay

Spinnaker broach during the Sydney - Hobart race. Excellent recovery by the crew!
