I meant to say "I thought it was originally called Pitch-pull not Pitch pole. Whoops
-
It is called "Pitch Pull" not pitch pole. It is what happens when a boat's bow hits something (ex:front of a wave), and stops abruptly, but the loose objects (or people) continue to move forward, effectively pitching them. In bad situations this can cause a boat to flip bow over stern. Can be deadly. These boys were brave and it is good to gain the experience.

...'wild pitchpole'?
.........pretty lame actually :-/ -
Page 90 of "A life Decoded, my genome, my life" by J. Craig Venter "Moments later, with Claire and me helplessly looking on from the trapeze , he turned into a big wave and we began to pitchpole."

:O and launch 20ft!! hahaha
-
The kite pulls the nose of the boat down and forwards, hence why the crew weight is right at the back. Sometimes the bows go under the water if they hit a wave or something, causing the boat to stop dead, that's why the crew swings forward. When the stern goes up and over the bows you call it a pitchpole.
-
my god, that looks dangerous and fun... mostly fun :) i was actually shouting *whooop* everytime the leward bow went down.

When u have a long one piece tiller and you have to have your crew trapped out on the back corner of the boat, the tiller would be in the way in its normal position. In this shot, the driver is steering by the tiller cross bar. Everyone laser s to love to be critical but this was a shot of two young kids having fun after a training session and the action was caught on video. U tube clips are suppose to be for the enjoyment of others.....just sit back and enjoy!

dragging the tiller ? ?

YOU GUYS CRACK ME UP....
-
i agree with ozskipper...it was a capsize. Calling it a "wild" pitchpole makes it much more inaccurate
-
Some people just need to sail more! If you want to be technical, it started as a pitch pole and ended up capsizing....Wild pitchpole was just the tilte....give it a break!
-
Um.. that was a capsize.. not a pitchpole.. .Cant stand uploaders that use fake video names. Sad
-
Impressed you saved it the first time...which actually looked worse then the one that ate you guys!
-
Not a pitchpole. A stall and sideways knockdown.
-
well obviously, they have the fastest PYS of and monohull
-
If you want to see some genuine wild pichpoles go and look at the Aussie 18 ft skiffs. I reckon those 18s would hammer this little cat
-
I did a red gear camp in Bay City, MI a couple years back. Robbie and Jill put on a great training camp!
-
That's not really a pitchpole, but close. Defiantly great sailing though.
-
QUite observant.....the crew was on the trap!
