A boat is going up a river when it wants to go to the shore. What angle must it travel at to go perfectly across the river. This is a classic vector problem. Basically alls what you have to do is make a vector of what is happening in the problem. From there you can use soh cah toa to solve the vector. Then you can use the Pythagorean theorem to solve the the speed you will travel across the river at.
