If I was a boat owner/captain, I'd get my boat out to sea as soon as possible if I got word or felt the quake. If I was a plane owner/pilot, I'd take off for a safe haven. Not judging those who got hit...just what I'd do if this happened where I was at.

Other than the fact it was scary as hell, to witness mother nature at one of her most powerful moments was probably awesome.

I don't speak the language but it sounds like let's all get the hell out of here.

Unseen by 6.2 million people!

The insurance companies must have went broke after this.

There is a lesson to be learned here, me included. When I look at the destruction of property, and I have watched many videos of the Japanese Tsunami, I feel humbled because all we have can so easily be taken away from us.

Lots of helicopters in the water. Almost remind me of ducks sitting on the water.

Aaahhhh the power of Nature. When it boils down to it, we are nothing but a surface irritation. If she wanted to, Mother Nature could erase us from the face of this planet inside of a week.
-
That helicopter would have been really useful

Has anyone ever placed on dollar amount on the total damage from this event? I doubt even billions covered this.
