I'm really surprised by all the racist comments I've had to remove.
-
I remember seeing it before the restoration. This was a surprise to me.

he got a few facts wrong but only someone who studied the U 505 would know

If karl dönitz had a 300 u boats at the beginning of 1939 then the world be a better place NOW

Там етот негр реп читает?

Inappropriate tour guide. Far better to have a digital narration taking you through the tour, especially with such an awesome museum. He is actually a distraction to the tour, and sounds like a drone.

i remember when she was outside in 1965 she was in fare shape been inside abt 6 times if u have a chance come to chicago cubs win jg

They altered the U-Boat? Please move it back to the way it was, you don't show a piece of history by changing what it looks like.
-
The germans were good at fighting.and the u boat was to be feared.
-
Thank God for the subtitles.

An interesting side note, if anyone cares, is the fact that Capt Dan Gallery, USN, led the task force that forced U 505 to the surface and forced it''s surrender. However, he located U 505 using ULTRA intercepts from previous transmissions. The CNO at that time Adm King, became greatly upset when he learned that Capt Gallery had used ULTRA as King was afraid that the German's would figure out that this was how their sub was found. If this had happened, then the German Navy would have changed their codes and the allies would have to start all over again. King toyed with the idea of Court Martialing Capt Gallery, but realized that the publicity over this would garner much media attention making it easier for the Germans to find out. And now you know the rest of the story.

Went through an American ww2 sub once and at the end of the sub at the rear torpedo room was a ww2 vet that actually served on that sub sitting on a chair and he told of great stories, when asked if he was ever depth charged he said its the worst feeling you can have and the look on his face explained it all. Maybe I should go back and make a video and have an actual ww2 vet explain the submarine he served on.

I'm going tomorrow
-
This sub was battle worn and ready for more action when I boarded it while I was in the Navy.

Looks impressive, ive looked on the one in Merseyside.

They keep the sub dark during most of the tour? How are you supposed to check anything out?

This is a video of the outside and inside of the U-Boat 505 Nazi Submarine. Press the CC (closed-caption) button on the video to read what is being said throughout the video story. It's a bit noisy, so that should help. The video footage was taken from Google Glass #throughglass
