sick of hearing yanks tell this kind of shit on utube

Turn the damn "dramatic" music down so we can hear the folks talk.

Can't believe that nobody appears to know of Alberecht type anti sonar and anti radar.coatings. Or that they say there are no U boats lost in the channel.
-
I thought that the anechoic coatings were still largely secret. We were aware of them being used, but pictures of the bumps and the actual types of rubber/asphalt were still too close to what we and the Russians use today. I suppose it's just become too available with all of the dead subs laying around these days.

Germans just made a mistake. However when you are trying to take over the world, mistakes can happen.

Does anyone else remember when "Diver Dan" was a television show?

agree, and commerce raiding...

Germany focused on U-Boats instead of aircraft carriers because the Kriegsmarine (German navy) fought a different naval war than the US or Britain did. The latter of whom had to defend colonies, bases and territories that were all far apart from each other. Therefore they needed a quick reaction force that provided mobile units in response to threats to these areas.
Germany on the contrary mainly needed their navy to supply its military on the Eastern Front or in North Africa and to starve out Britain's economy. Aircraft carriers are too costly for this kind of warfare. Submarines and torpedo bombers are much easier to built for this kind of task and a potential loss is also no that serious in comparison to an aircraft carrier. That's why Germany's carrier building program remained half-hearted throughout the war. -
I suspect the nazi never completed the Graf Zepplin as most conquests were (Land Battles)???

not many old veterans available anymore.. you have to work with what youve got
-
the name was used for an airship (unfortunately filled with H) and it was used again for a carrier. just enter "graf zeppelin träger" into google and you find evidence.
-
Ships are the last place I would want to be during the second world war.
-
Huh? Graf Zeppelin was a German commercial airship, not an aircraft carrier. The Nazis never had an aircraft carrier, and the Graf Spee was a nazi battleship which was scuttled by its captain in Montevideo, Uruguay.

The American narrator needs to remember that, north of the Canadian border, the rank of Lieutenant, Lt. Commander, etc. is pronounced like «Leftenant».

My papa, Alex Smith one of 31 survivors. I am alive today because he survived this German attack in 1944. #perspective

You mean like a sniper?..or a well concealed artillery gun or tank that shoots it's prey from afar while hiding? How 'bout a bomber that drops bombs from 30k feet...it's called war and subs are no different other than it took balls of steel to be a submariners.

FYI - The U-boat service suffered the highest casualty rate of any service, in any war, in any country. They were truly warriors, whether their cause was just or not. Men in combat don't fight for country or creed, they fight for each other.

During WWII, the German Navy created the world's first stealth submarine, the U-480. A thin layer of rubber was added to it's skin to defeat the British sonar known as ASDIC. The sub went on 3 patrols, sinking 4 ships and shooting down an aircraft. In 1945 the sub was sunk and all hands were lost, except 1 who was left behind for training. During it's career, U-480 was never detected by Allied sonar.
