Thank you, good info!!!!!!!!!

Another great cat is the Maine Cat 41, or perhaps the new 38. The 41 has the main berths located mid-ship which is a more restful location than the ends of a boat as common with most cats. I also like that the 12 foot RIB is stowed on chocks on the stern thereby avoiding the problem of a dinghy swinging around on davits while underway. The construction is 'liner-free' which I much prefer to better access the working parts of the boat (wiring, plumbing, etc.) I'm so excited about this design because I just purchased a used MC41 and looking forward to some fast cruising!

Thanks for the informative video. I would suggest turning off the music in the background it made listening a bit distractive.

Great video and topic.
What in your opinion are some good sailboats for tall people. (

What makes this a great video is that you are such a reasonable, thoughtful fellow. Thanks very much for this informative piece. I've been sailing or thinking about sailing for most of my life. I was raised on monohulls, as we all were, but I went to the Abacos on a catamaran with some friends, and my mind was officially blown. Catamarans are the only way to sail the Caribbean. Shallow draft is REALLY important here. I saw a number of monohulls resting on their keels and heeled over at ridiculous angles at anchor in some shallow harbors. Not Good. Some commenters here do not fully grasp the scope of your discussion. My first choice of cat, after some years of research is the Antares 44. Ohter people call out this cat specifically. This was understandably not listed in your video, because there are basically none for sale. Your vid was about "Most popular" brands. Quick word about Fontaine Pajot...or "Helia", as the model is called. This is a floating condominium, designed to wallow comfortably in mellow seas, while giving its occupants ample storage for booze and snacks. It is not really meant for blue water sailing. The hulls are far too wide and the bridge deck clearance is too low for that. And that's fine. But if you want a blue water cat, there are plenty of them to pick from. But it's going to cost you. Performance and quality do not come cheap. That's why Fontaine, Lagoon, and Leopard are the most popular boats our there. Period.

Is Bali a newer company? or just not old enough to make the top 10?

Hey Ryan... to my surprise, I ran into your video while doing some sailboat research :) http://sailuniverse.com/2017/01/top-12-catamaran-brands-quick-guide-beginners-video/.
Congrats on being featured in the post! -
moorings is a charter company which uses all brands of cats and mono sail.
why more French builders... because the United States was stupid to avoid building them when 80% are found in Caribbean. -
Hello, I would love to see you guy's make a video talking about what type of size catamaran should you have to cross the sea. I have not found any videos talking about this on youtube for any type of boats.

Go a Gunboat or go home.

Excellent overview... Appreciate your time putting this together.

So SAD that PRIVILEGE is not mentionned in this Top 12 !!! Certainly one of the best values on the market, existing since 1985, high quality built, about 800 units built as today and perfect for cruising and would have been perfect in the section Sunreef / Outremer (no e at the end) ....

Please make more videos like this. I appreciate the education & I subscribed.
Is it possible for you guys to go to a boat show & film the insides & do interviews with the companies. I know you'd have a large amount of video & would have to make it into 10+ videos. Perhaps 1 video per brand -
This list is fantastic.
I'm a single woman so perhaps a Gemini for me. :)
This years goal is to start saving.
Perhaps in a few years I'll be on my way & meet an adventurous man to travel the world with me. -
I believe France is very sailing orientated, they treat sailors that did something remarkable as countries hero's and if I remember it right it was a Frenchmen that took the Polynesian catamaran concept out into the western world and build one himself making it a French invention out of a Polynesian invention, but I'm not sure I think I once read it somewhere.

I'm surprised you never mentioned Antares catamarans.
-
been sailing around on my Discovery 50 for about six years now, the main reason was the size of the owners stateroom as i live on the boat for 5 months of the year

PDQ > Gemini

I'd list St Francis, South African builder, as an option. Their boats are well known for its liveaboard and cruising features, and are seldom found in the used market. Thanks for the video. Very informative!
