Black Pearl What is technically the largest sailing yacht in the world, Oceanco’s project Y712, was launched in September this year. Designed by Nuvolari Lenard, Black Pearl will set sail for the first time early next year powered by her innovative DynaRig system, created by Dykstra Naval Architects. 2. Barong D Wally’s teak-clad Barong D was launched in April this year and made an impression with her clean exterior deck design and functional onboard systems. Built for an experienced Wally owner, Barong D was developed by Frers Naval Architects. 3. Shamanna Nautor Swan’s 35-metres Shamanna was launched in May this year and handed over to her owner just ahead of the past summer cruising season. The Flush Deck version as which Shamanna is finished, enables guest to make the most of the available deck space while allowing free movement for race crew as well. 4. My Song News came from Finland in June as Baltic Yachts launched its 40-metre carbon sailing yacht My Song. Built for an experienced yachtsman, My Song was designed by Reichel/Pugh and Nauta Design. 5. Sybaris Perini Navi launched the largest sailing yacht ever to be built in Italy in May this year. The 850-Gross Tonne vessel designed by Perini, Philippe Briand and P.H Design, has joined an elite list of some of the largest sailing yachts in the world when she was handed over to her owner ahead of the Monaco Yacht Show earlier this year. 6. Crossbow Born at the very bottom of the African continent, Southern Wind launched its 31.7-metre sailing yacht Crossbow in August. With the familiar combo of naval architect Farr Yacht Design and Nauta Design behind the interior and exterior design of the yacht, Crossbow follows in the wake of the yard’s successful SW102 mini-series and is the third Raised Saloon version of the line. 7. Cygnus Montanus Another success story from the Southern Hemisphere is the launch of Yachting Developments’ 33.8-metre sailing yacht Cygnus Montanus. Delivered to her experienced owners in July, she is designed by German Frers of Frers Naval Architecture with an interior by Adam Lay Studio. 8. Skade A launch that nearly went unnoticed was Holland Jachtbouw’s 46-metre Skade. Designed by Tripp Design, the performance sloop has since been handed over to her owners who are enjoying their new yacht in the Pacific. 9. Missy Another Dutch-built sailing yacht that made an impression this year was the 33-metre Missy, built by Vitters Shipyard. The lightweight Malcolm McKeon-designed yacht was created as ‘world-cruiser that is fun to sail’ with a strong focus on safety and family-friendliness onboard. 10. Highland Fling Another significant launch by Nautor’s Swan this year was the 35-metre Highland Fling. Built as the first RACE version in the Finish shipyard’s flagship range, she is developed specifically for reaching high speeds on the regatta circuit.
