At about 9-30, the hire boat was in the middle of the river, and on seeing another boat approaching did the correct manoeuvre and passed on the right. High Seas was further away from the bank than the hire boat when they passed each other. Yes he was going too fast, but I saw nothing else wrong with what he did. When under power, a sailing boat has to behave in the same way as a motor cruiser. From a sailing boat owner and user on the broads.

Thanks for that for those of us yet to have a boat !!! Tough shit indeed. :) The plan is there, I am just trying to get past, past issues of my life such that I can have the funds to get my boat, then to live the dream also. I really do think you need a dodger on your boat, and perhaps even a bimini, at least that way in your crappy wet UK weather you would have more liveable space onboard. Am finding it amusing and instructive in watching your journey. You do seem to be getting more in tune with being a liveaboard boatie from your first sailing attempts. Fair winds.

Not all people who hire boats are idiots, I remember on many occasions when I went on yachts with my parents in the 70s and 80s, my Dad screaming at cruiser hirers to slow down and get out of the way etc. There should be some sort of compulsory training system before novices are let loose on large craft especially.

Toilet talk! Sorry, I couldn't help myself. I've done my fair share of work on raw sewage pumps at a sewage treatment plant so I feel your pain. I would have thought the automatic bilge pump would keep up with the incoming water or the bilge alarm would have sounded to alert you to the situation. Hang tough and you'll persevere.

I think your site will slowly catch on in time. I really enjoy it. Very stripped down, "this is who I am and this is the life I live", the eccentric Englishman. Well done sir. You have hit on something unique.
High Seas Sailing & Boating Vlogs. High Seas is a sailing adventure which started on the Norfolk Broads. - The aim is to take this sailing boat, or yacht as I prefer to call it and take it from the Norfolk Broads to just about anywhere I choose. From painting the boat to daily updates of the pros and cons, including learning to sail, boat problems and mechanical issues to events on the journey of a lifetime. This is just a small part of what is a fantastic adventure and my aim is to share some of it with you, as I know so many people would love to do the same. There is a lot to accomplish and it will take at least a year on the Norfolk Broads to get the boat equipped to the standard necessary. Support us on Patreon.com http://patreon.com/user?u=3626090
