I love my Yamaha's... Ive had Seadoo 430hp challenger its a dog compared to Yamaha even 280hp... then you turn the wheel and it slows down..haha... sea doo will blow-up in no time, 3 cylinders suck... especially when you blow-up the supercharger... I would rather run lake water thru my engine than supercharger parts...hahah...lol and stern drive suck also I seen so many damaged outdrives and props. then bowrise and hole shot... Yamaha jetboats are the way to go... rental places run Yamaha for a reason just saw one for sale with 900 hours still running like new... do that with your supercharged seadoo...Yamaha doesn't get into the hp game because seadoo hp is all smoke and mirrors and the smoke is from your super charger blowing up...and cooking your engine. with as little as 50 hours or less.

Rotax are garbage. Seadoo doesn't make boats anymore for that reason. Couldn't compete with Yamaha

I don't care what anyone says, Yamaha engines are NOT as good as Rotax engines. First of all Yamaha won't even tell you the engine horsepower. Also Yamaha does not use a closed loop cooling system, so anything in the water goes through your engine block. Also Yamaha engines are 4 cylinder, which is completely unnecessary. Rotax engines make more horsepower than most Yamaha engines with one less cylinder and they do not run raw water through the engine.

I think it is funny how Yamaha people like to brag about their horsepower and engines when you could by a seadoo that's the same length with 510 HP and 2 less cylinders.

You should realize just how far you are off base with that "400" hp equivalent comment. Not knocking this boat, its very nice, and i am a fan of jet propulsion, but it is inherently less efficient than a prop. It would be more like having 250hp with a stern drive. Just ran a 2700 regal which is 28' with a volvo 8.1 liter engine with 375hp, turning a duo prop drive, top speed, right at 60 mph. But this boat is shorter, 50% lighter, and barely gets into the 50's...

Hi,
I have been looking into jet boats for quite some time now.
Used to have a Volvo Penta V8 Chris Chraft but that exceeded the purchase price in maintenance and repair costs alone within 2 years.
Now running a small Zodiac with 50 hp Outboard engine which does the job for short days on the water and some waterskiing and wake boarding.
Really want to buy another "bigger" motorboat again but scared of a lot of breakdowns and repair costs. Chris Chraft really was a piece of sh*t....
These jet boats have me interested however. Can you tell me anything about maintenance, repair costs, break downs? Also looking at a Sea Doo 230 Wake.
What do you think?
Thankful for any advice and opinion.
Cheers. -
Have a 2012, 242 Limited, heart pumping is correct!
6m 7sLength
If this boat does not get your heart pumping than you must be a Zombie.
