In June 1992, during the sea trials in Norway, Moonraker became the world’s fastest mega yacht with a speed of 66.7 knots. In 2004 another Mulder Design motor yacht 'World Is Not Enough' broke the Moonraker record by reaching a top speed of 67 knots and became world’s fastest mega yacht. Up to now she still holds that title. At speed, Moonraker offers quieter and smoother performance than most displacement-speed yachts. The GRP hull pushes the design envelope in several directions, from her continuously changing hull shape, to her unique trim tab system, which provides dramatic performance and efficiency at all ranges in her speed curve, as well as complete automatic stabilization. ‘Moonraker’s' tank-tested hull was run through a complex computer program to determine precise loads on every inch of the hull’s surface. The result is a light, seaworthy, extraordinarily strong and extremely efficient hull. The superstructure was hand-shaped in foam and then sheathed in fiberglass to produce a complex structure that is as light and strong as it is aesthetically pleasing. Moonraker’s mechanical systems and engineering spaces are beautiful and functional. Her equipment inventory, from bridge to engine room, is of the highest order. In every way, Moonraker represents the pinnacle of achievement in yacht design and construction. She is as versatile and functional as she is fast and elegant.
