Glynn Smith hails from Southampton England a true nautical town, which is rich in yachting history and famous for its yacht races and regattas. Glynn started sailing at the age of 12 from where his passion and love for everything to do with the sea and boats flourished. Glynn’s first introduction into the private yachting world was in 1992 when he joined a classic sailing yacht in San Remo, Italy and this opened up a whole new world for him. He soon moved up the ranks and took his first Captains position at the age of 23 on a Swan 46. He sailed the Swan 46 over 36,000 miles and visited 25 countries including Atlantic crossings and 2 Pacific crossings. Glynn’s career continued to blossom captaining a high profile racing yacht placing first in major regattas in the Mediterranean. After many years helming sailing yachts he transitioned to Super Yachts (up to 200ft 60 meters) chartering in the Mediterranean, Bahamas, Caribbean, USA, and Central America. Glynn’s vast experience as a MCA 3000 ton Super Yacht Captain has encompassed 14 exceptional Mediterranean charter seasons and 8 Caribbean charter seasons on high profile charter yachts with high profile guests and business men and their families. He has a unique understanding of every facet of yacht operations, from refit project management, crew management, new construction and commissioning. He was instrumental in finishing the back end of a new build on the 60 meter Lurssen Solemates in Germany and then took command of the vessel. He has commanded many other yachts including Swans, Delta’s, Trinity’s and Heesen’s in the 130ft-200ft (40m-60m) range throughout his 23 years at sea. Owners can take solace in the fact that Glynn has in depth first hand experience and knowledge of many yacht manufactures/ pedigrees. Throughout the years he has formed a trusted contact base of professionals within the industry that cover every aspect of yacht ownership from new construction, yacht management, regulations, and refit. Glynn’s strong ethics along with his belief that the yachting world is very unique, drives him to go above and beyond making sure that clients get what they expected and envisioned.
