SOUNDBITE (Arabic): Saeed Hareb, Senior Advisor, Dubai International Boat Show: "There is evident growth, today we have more than 843 exhibitors, which is a new number for us. There are around 450 yachts and boats on display. The yearly growth here at the show has been between 5 and 8 per cent. This is also a very positive sign." 11. Boats at the marina 12. This will increase the demand for boats, people will want even a small boat to use here. Especially that this canal will connect to Dubai Creek, people will want to take their boats in between. Despite a slow-down in the global economy, manufacturers say the market remains strong, especially across the Middle East. STORYLINE: It's one of the glitziest boat shows; the Dubai International Boat Show, with more than 400 gleaming vessels on display. Dutch boat buldiers Heesen are exhibiting their new 47-metre yacht Asya. It's the largest at this year's event. This impressive yacht is powered by two MTU8V 4000 M63 diesel engines with a cruising speed of 12 knots, and a range of 4,000 nautical miles. The boat's exterior was designed by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, while the interior was done by London-based studio Bannenberg & Rowell. Heesen are one of two Superyacht Builders' Association (SYBAss) members showing their boats at this year's show. Such yachts are popular here according to Sara Gioanola from Heesen.
