If that ship took a real wartime hit like that (especially pre-2004) that hit would've probably set off secondary explosions from her SM-1s as that hit near the mk-13 magazine
-
I think todays explosive is pathetic and weaker compare to WW2.

do not have one of me to come

Bye, bye Oliver Perry class frigate...you were a pretty tough ship.

Looks like chuck norris kicked his ball at the hull at 2:40

RIP Oliver Hazard Perry Class Frigate D:

tax money for fireworks
-
cool but why did they sink it it could have been a museum or something not just target practice but still cool either way
-
Uh! It did not sink. Not a very big ship either!
-
try to sink the main land
-
was that rc or real?
-
A notable video but it did not sink. Having a thumbnail of a ship sinking and not delivering is confusing. I find it rather admirable that the ship did not sink after that explosion but the video is promotes that it does.
-
Ship pitches up when hit. Torpedo must have exploded beneath keel, maybe breaking ship's "back"
-
It was cleaned up before the exercise. All the fluids and other things that would have blown up or cause a fire were take off. This way the ship would act as a reef and not cause pollution. The ship seems to be able to take one heck of a hit.
-
Hopeless. Did not sink.
-
"Oh, you're having a bad day? Did you die?"
"I got hit by a torpedo."
"But did you die?" -
Look's like O.Perry is indeed great example of ship's design..I thought a ship with few thousand tons of displacement won't survive long after collecting a torpedo hit.
-
i was on submarines and when I got out in 79 a Mk-48 was about $250,000 and the ship in the teaser was an auxiliary not the frigate that was shot
-
It's always sad to see a ship dying.

Submarine TORPEDO ATTACK! U.S. Navy SHIP SINKING exercise – Pacific Ocean, 2016. Please note: This was a controlled training exercise – NOT a real combat scenario. The sinking of obsolete naval vessels both serves as a valuable training operation, as well as often creating a reef and a subsequent dive location. ...and thank you for visiting the Ultimate Military Channel.
