Starting the Evinrude 88 SPL 2 Stroke boat engine

I have the exact setup, I have recently heard a buzzing sound from the gear shifting unit. Have you encountered this before?

I have a 60hp Evinrude with a ignition system almost identical to yours (not sure what's it called), anyways for the past few weeks my motor won't start at all.. It cranks, there's fuel flowing and there are sparks from the plugs. If i take the cover off and check the carbs I see mixed fuel..mill even smell fuel on the plugs when I pull them off.. But it won't start.. Not even a sputter.. So my guess it's the ignition system somehow.. I noticed that it sometimes sticks when I try and start it... Maybe a faulty kill Switch? How would I disable that completely to test? Thanks

That's a mechanical steering, just a regular cable, not hydro.

hi nice work I have a question or 2 I have a 1973 85hp evenrode and my throttle handle goes all the way forward but the shift linkage on the motor doesn't engage all the way can they be adjusted and if so how? thankyou

Ethynol gas is terrible to be left inside these motors or carbs...as for the 88 SPL, its an outstanding motor.
