@dullfig90501 comparing a 4 way split of owning an airplane to owning a car is something that most can easily understand. Run the numbers of single pilot ownership and then look at my numbers to see what is better for you.

@dullfig90501 that would be true if you only drove your car for 100 or so hours a year. An airplane spends most of its time on the ground if it only has one person to fly it. With a partnership of 4 people, a plane flys more and the overall costs are less. Compar

@LetsFlyWa well then, for a fair comparison, you'd have to split a toyota four ways also, right?
-
@starozy The idea is that you split the cost 4 ways and that brings your fixed expenses in line with the Toyota reference.

Cost of a Toyota? Which model Toyota goes for $100,000SD?
-
@ae4xo They can be used for IFR training if equipped but can not be flow in actual IMC.
-
@eatmorenachos My previous answer was a little unclear. LSAs can't be flow IFR but they can be used for IFR training if properly equipped.

@LetsFlyWa I thought LSA's werent rated for IFR

Can the SportCruiser be flown IFR (if you've got an instrument rating?)

The SportCruiser Light Sport Airplane is a remarkable aircraft. It offers the speed, comfort and range of a much larger and more expensive airplane for the operating costs of a Toyota. Learn to be a sport pilot in as little as 20 hours or become a full private pilot in just a little over 40 hours and the sky will be yours!
