My wife bought me a pair of the gold cups. They go against all the reasons to buy a boat shoe. They are lamb skin and memory foam insole. Boat shoes are supposed to be worn with no socks. You can't do that with lamb skin because it will start to stink. Unlike real cow hide. The memory foam gets so hot and isn't meant to get wet. Why would one buy boat shoes like this. Boat shoes are meant to get wet and worn in the water. I think these were made for city dwellers who wear them for the look only.

i wear the sperry top-sider lanyard 2 eye mostly and sometimes my sperry ultralite billfish
-
currently wearing my AO Sahara Brown Sperry shoes. I have 2 billfish pairs and now I'm thinking about getting some of the gold cup line. Sperry's are the best.
-
where the gold cup made in ?
-
so the sperry gold cup is made in usa or what
-
only thing I don't like about the newer gold cup boat shoes is the two piece lining, problems peeling up with them.

When I was in high school (some 35 years ago), Sebago Docksides were the "in" shoes to have. As crazy as it sounds, my snooty fellow students could spot a pair that looked like Docksides, but weren't. And if you were caught "faking it," do NOT expect to find a date for homecoming. I recently bought a pair of these Sperrys, and I like them a lot better. Even if they are made in China, they're a lot roomier, which is important for my 13 WW feet.

Question are sperrys made in the Dominican Republic?

I wear Sperry Top Sider Mako 2 eye canoe moc boat shoes in Amaretto. I've been wearing it for about 6 months now and I first wore it on my cruise and it still looks brand new, especially the leather. I've been wearing it to work almost every single day. It's a very high quality shoe and it's the same price as the authentic original, but much high quality. Though it comes no insoles, so adding your own insole is a must for the Mako. I also have the authentic original in sahara which I haven't worn yet, but I will probably take it on the cruise which I will be going on very soon.

I've had mine (same exact pair) for almost 4 years now and they are as comfy as Day 1. It's the deerskin lining that I love about this shoes - they are easy and smooth on your feet. However, my only concern is how to clean/wash them the "right" way. Care to share how you clean yours?

Those old Timberlands featured briefly in the video have that rustic, organic, heavy leather, authentic quality that is hard to find. I've had two pairs of the Sperry's (Billfish three hole). I'm a Brit and picked up my first pair in 2007 on a trip to the US. They looked great, dark tan and amaretto with perforated leather instep and tongue. I tried them on and it was like putting on a five year old pair of shoes, the fit and comfort were perfection personified. My next pair of Sperry's I bought four years later via the Internet (no outlets in UK at the time) even though this meant paying import duty etc. Sperry's now have limited distribution in the UK but prices are high, we are often expected to pay more in pounds than the US pays in dollars. Great shows but way too expensive for what they are especially now they are being made by workers at about $2 an hour.
