all the fine work she did around the globe then sent to her watery grave

Demolish them all bomb africa with them.

I can't decide what's best for an old girl like her or any other warship, to be sold as scrap or buried at sea. I suppose that being put out to sea at least she'd still have life aboard her...yeah, that's best.

You know I hate when they blow them up with bombs, instead of using them as target practice for our Navy and Air Force.

Нельзя такого красавца на дно!!!

Legend has it that strong currents brought it over to the US shore and created Florida.

Wow, so they just wasted a perfectly built aircraft carrier for a fucking artificial reef?USA is in debt, and most money gose to the military. I understand that it was used back then, and it's outdated. But they could've scrapped it, or even sell it. Instead of blowing the fucking thing. That ship has history into it. Possible. Sad.. Just fucking sad.

They did the same thing to my ship, the USS America, CV66. She became an artificial reef off the coast of Virginia.
-
Gongragulations you've wasted metal and a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
-
I have a fear of sinking ships

if they only just donate it to countries like their allies im sure it may be put to good use..feel sad of it sinking though..

to all who would like to own a shp the navy mothballed ships in virginia has sold 1 for 1 dollar. they cant give it away though for less than 1 dollar. only problem is it cost hundrds of thousands of dollars to have it moved to where you want it -thats why its not worth it for scrap value to buy-itsjust too costly to move it and people have no place to put it and the ones that cut it up for scrap will charge you a fortune also. better to sink it and retain memories of her.

could have filled the ship with lawyers ,politicians corrupt cops and gangbangers
SINKING a U.S. Navy AIRCRAFT CARRIER! (The ship was intentionally sunk to make the WORLD'S LARGEST ARTIFICIAL REEF!) (Please kindly note that this is a safely controlled sinking event conducted by the United States Navy – it is NOT a real combat situation.) Further notes: This remarkable video features the Essex-class aircraft carrier USS Oriskany (CV/CVA-34). The Oriskany was commissioned on the 25th of September 1950 and was ultimately decommissioned on the 30th of September 1976. She served her country admirably in the Korean War (receiving two battle stars) & in the Vietnam War (receiving five battle stars). It was decided by the U.S. Navy in 2004 that this militarily obsolete vessel would be put to better and continued use as an artificial reef. The sinking of the ship was accomplished on the 17th of May 2006. The Oriskany now rests 24 miles southeast of Pensacola, Florida, in an upright position, in approximately 215 ft of water.
