I made the mistake of running a flats boat through heavy waves before but this is new. however, that captain knows how to handle waves like that so they seem to be in no trouble
-
LoL! Those are not 12' waves. Never fails to amaze me the human capacity to exaggerate!
-
Great footage but very stupid comments by the narrator. Anyone who knows anything about boats and rough sea wouldn't be concerned in this water. Virtually no breaking waves anywhere, and it's big breaking waves you should be worried about. As Melt Down said, I've been in worse water in a smaller boat and found it fun.
-
I've been in much worse with a smaller boat, on the Pacific coast. You would be surprised at the size of waves you can pick through, if you know what you are doing.
-
Looks like he's doing a good job cutting through
-
7000 miles in that boat?
and where did they store the fuel? -
Thats an US-Flag....hmmm no more to say.....

was in 3 meter swells today with my 14ft alloy boat wind picked up in the afternoon only had to go about 4kms but ended up having to zig zag and it took a little over a hour usually a 20 minute ride pretty scary as it was only my 3rd time driving it
-
Looks like he's doing a good job, i guess its similar to us ribbing boys, we all skim across the waves rather than cut through them. You can literally fly over the waves, by in fairness you get a hell of a pounding, sleep like a baby when you get home thats for sure!! I did 40 miles on my rib in very similar conditions 2 weeks ago, sore in the morning after that one!!!!

Keep the power on and beam when you have to and a good captain can take water like this.

All is sea is that 'merica flag

Dumb and unnecessary stunt. Of course when it gets a little rough they want everyone(coast guard, nearby ships, fishermen) to come babysit them, as though they have nothing else to do but save them from themselves. This is the kind of amateur BS that irritates professional mariners and watermen to no end. If you want to cross the Atlantic in a small boat thats fine. Just do it in a boat suited for the task.
-
Whoever decided these were 12' seas needs to get new glasses, and although from way up looking down they look ok; fact is in a little flat bottom boat such as thay they are getting their asses poinded and will head straight to Chiropractor upon arrival at land.
-
Really lucky they weren't breaking. Liked his move to ride the wave like a surfer.
-
Looks like the wave period was high, thats good if your him.

Carolina skiff ?

Fuck the coast gaurd I wanna know wgar kinda boat that is an I need deep sea boating lessons from this guy gd what captain
-
The only think that was stopping it nose diving was the fact that he put the engine at more of a angle, kept the nose out. This guy knows what hes doing.

Cross The Atlantic voyage. After 7,000 miles in the open ocean this flats boat gets caught in 12 foot seas more than 40 miles from shore between the Shetland Islands and the Orkney Islands in the North Sea. Video taken by Her Majesty's Search and Rescue helicopter after they heard about a flats boat in giant waves. After a few minutes they figured out that this vessel was fine and left.
