Owner paid £1.00 seriously! Since then of course he has spent a fair amount in getting her in shape and running correctly, twin V8's now purr, re-furbished cockpit & interior, so lots, lots more spent.

Your thinking is correct, we didn't for those reasons. New gel coat on the non slip really is the only way to go to get it 100%, even if it is thinned down and built up to allow shape texture retention. At least that way you can retain the grip. If you have the same non-uniformed texture then it's easy. Uniformed (diamond etc) non-slip can be a pita, but do-able if you know how to take molds. Like the Xbox cooling btw, send me one!

...and how did you get the oxidation off the textured deck without ruining it? I'm afraid to sand mine because I don't want to hit the high spots and miss the low spots.

Fantastic job guys! I'm working on an 85 sea ray 300. It isn't as rough as yours started off but it has some gelcoat gouges. Did you just gelcoat and sand or did you use a filler?
