I'm really enjoying going through your videos! Cole is such a lucky boy, having the time of his life! Makes me wish I had done this while my daughter was still small ,instead of waiting until she has grown up!

Great video! Gives us lots to think about when prepping for sailing with kids!

Nice catch with the barracuda! Did you use one of your own lures that time? Brad, I was wondering if you ended up eating the 'cuda since they're know for carrying the ciguatera toxin which can cause poisoning with symptoms of nausea and vomiting for a few days? The smaller the fish, the safer and Cole's seemed small enough. On the other hand, the bull (male) Mahi he later caught is one of my favorite fish to eat. Filet them up and sauté in butter, salt & pepper, simple. They tend to swim in schools and we found if we left one on the hook in the water, it would "call" to its mates who would swim up and we'd take spinning rods with proper size lures and be able to catch several. I guess this might be more difficult in a sailing cat maintaining a heading and speed. Our procedure involved stopping the boat. Wahoo is also a great fighting fish and great to eat. Cut into "steaks" and grille with some mild seasoning like lemon-pepper and butter. Cole - do you use wire leader? That's usually what you need to keep the barracuda or wahoo on the line, since both have nasty teeth. Also, do you use circle hooks? Ideally, they'll end up in the corner of the mouth. Good Luck!

Forget about hiring expensive crew, just give birth to them. lol (Looks like he's old enough to do night watches.
A little peek at what it is like for Cole to be living and being home schooled on a sailing catamaran in the Caribbean Sea. This one is especially for all of Cole's friends and class mates at Chemainus Elementary back home on Vancouver Island, Canada.
