I remember this very well as live nearby. I went to the river with daughter and a swan stepped off the embankment into the water and floated up the river at such speed my daughter and myself both burst out laughing. On a serious note regarding the boats we saw several that had sunk. The river had risen about 5 feet in height due to high rain volumes for several weeks prior which all ran into the river Thames. The speed of the water was frightening. I am glad they saved the boat
