To all the people saying "It's just a chocolate ad" - no. Why can't people just do two simple things: do your research before you say something you think you know, or watch the entire video properly. There was Christmas Truce in 1914 - and that was probably one of the best displays of human emotions to date - they were scared and mistrustful of each other at first, but when they met each other they just realised they all wanted peace. There was no "In stock or online" business at the end - just a good message telling us that sharing happiness is about what Christmas is "Christmas is for Sharing" - probably one of the truest Christmas ads we'll ever get. With any luck, they'll do a follow up ad as emotional as this one for 2018 (End of the WW1)

still the best advert to date
-
We're in the remnants of WW1 today.
God Bless the fallen of Both sides -

What does Otto say? All I can make out is es nicht and then whatever else he says
-
merry Christmas once again. let this beautiful advert shine
-
sadly, this would really only work in a few wars like WWI since they didn't have a real purpose to fight except to go home. in WWII, they had actual reasons, not just fighting eachother because a treaty says so
-
Loved it 100%. Even if you are enemies you are fighting not because you merely and personally devilishly hate the enemy that you want them all to suffer and die. In events like this you should call a truce and celebrate the same thing you both would celebrate if you weren't in the war. The holy spirit of Christmas celebrating the birth of Lord Jesus.

Presenting the new Sainsbury’s Christmas advert. Made in partnership with The Royal British Legion. Inspired by real events from 100 years ago. This year’s Christmas ad from Sainsbury’s – Christmas is for sharing. Made in partnership with The Royal British Legion, it commemorates the extraordinary events of Christmas Day, 1914, when the guns fell silent and two armies met in no-man’s land, sharing gifts – and even playing football together. The chocolate bar featured in the ad is on sale now at Sainsbury’s. All profits (50p per bar) will go to The Royal British Legion and will benefit our armed forces and their families, past and present.
