Great job thanks for sharing

While showing us your wifi I caught a split second of La Vagabonde on your big screen - I recognise my countrymens' accents anywhere....

Wife and I are shopping for a cat. Wondered if when you loaded her down for your departure did the bridgedeck height change? Also, did the water level at the base of the scoops creep up? How much? Thanks in advance. Every bit of info helps us newbies make a more informed boat selection.

never been seasick but it seems really bad. what was the swell height and period that env canada was reporting that day ? also did you notice any slewing motion sideways on large waves ?

I wish you well on your adventure. You've got a good well equipped boat and are well prepared. I get the feeling that you know the systems better than most people who head off into the blue. I think your electrical knowledge will stand you in good stead with understanding and dealing with the problems that will inevitably occur in each of the systems. A lot of people see the instrumentation as just a magical box. I think the mechanical systems will also not be a challenge if only because a pipe is just a large wire and a valve is a switch. Of course, most importantly, if you can survive a childhood on Bala Bay, I can't imagine the Pacific can throw anything at you that you haven''t already seen. Fair winds. I look forward to your postings

Nice video Scott. Would be nice to see more sailing as such.
I have a Leopard 40 and like to fly my asymmetrical on the front of one of the hulls and don't use a bowsprit. I like it like this. I use a bridal so I can move it hull to hull and the wind puffs stretches the bridal rope and does not put the pressure on the boat. The bridal also allows for distribution on both eyes of the hulls not only one. -
Hey there Laurie and Scott! , I've been following your channel lately, super awesome stuff, loved learning about Muskoka. I met you in Victoria, I'm one of the Dock Crew in the inner harbour (the guy painting) you gave me a tour of your boat. Just wanted to say hi and that I cant wait to hear more of your adventures.CheersJeremy

Looks like you had a enjoyable trip ! Thanks for posting.
I have two questions for you, is it normal to reef both sails at night? In a pinch what would your maximum range under engine power alone?
Best of luck....

Great channel. Good luck in your trip

Hello, you two look like your having fun, & Scott you look like your in your element, getting very excited about your departure, your going to make a great team, that's seems obvious already. Hope you feel OK Laurie during the long passages, your not alone with feeling a little sea sick, it seems to knock most sailors around during the passages from what I have been watching of other videos on YouTube.
Would love to see you both in 3/4 years, sounds a long ways off, but I'm sure time will pass quickly. My husband & I live north of Brisbane, not too far. Mooloolaba Marina nice stopover, restaurants in walking distance, beach across the road, provisions not to far by taxi, or me for that matter.
Good video as usual, looking forward to your departure soon. Be well.

Hi Scott & Laurie, Gday from Geraldton Western Australia, enjoying the journey with you guys, can you tell me what sort of temperatures you are having that way particularly on the VICE trip? Cheers

Awesome video ... Can't wait to see your videos of you two heading south :)

Hi Scott, good shake down cruise , looking forward to following your travels in the Pacific, Do you have some more details on your wifi booster, was thinking of installing on our boat
-
I can never go below when rough and feeling seasick, if they call for 15knts. or up Gravol time. more wind two Gravol. Hope you have a good trip!
-
your waterline is around 10 cm lower than mine. Each cm, i estimate around 300kg, hence you are around 3 T heavier than me at around 14 T. Am I close ?
Pretty good sailing still.
Have you considered that boat may not float well if flipped due to weight ? -
Thanks guys..

VICE is a cool idea for those that have not made passage before and to shake down the equipment. Question: Have you thought about a wind vane like Hydrovane which works on catamarans?

Sea sickness, lots of medications out there, but if at the moment you start to feel anything, go topsides and do something, anything. take down the sails and put them back up. Fresh air, activity and snacks to bring up your energy. The work while watching the horizon settles you equilibrium. It's also a bit of mind control. If you get it in your mind that your going to be sick, then you will. Make the passage fun, if the water is warm, get in a bosuns chair, set up a whisker pole and swing out over the water and occasionally dip into the water. A windsurfer dry suit helps in cold water.

Bon Voyage; Enjoy!!
This video is about Sailing Offshore in the Pacific Ocean, shakedown cruise Ep 18 "Off the Starboard Hull", Lagoon 400 S2 catamaran, around the world sailing. Off the Starboard Hull is a series of videos about a Canadian couple from Parksville, Vancouver Island who left July 21, 2016 to sail around the world. We want to take our time, so the trip will last about 10 years with a flexible itinerary. Before we untied the lines, we were exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest and outfitting out Lagoon 400S2, Muskoka, for our offshore adventures. Please feel free to ask any questions or give us advise in our comment section. We will try our best to answer each and every comment.
