evil Slavedrivers !!! Ever thought about the poor Drongos that have to open them Knots all again after you done/made them ????
-
Does that droge work well?
-
Interesting seas... Just enough to keep you on your best behavior but not dangerous... Would've liked to share the experience with you... What type and model cat? Thanks for posting a nice Vid... Gordon

что там за верёвка сзади болтается? ловит брёвна?
-
I wasn't trying to set a record...!
-
not enough wind noise
-
Hi, Depends on the seas, but 100 feet of rope is average for a 10m boat, the chain is 10m.just to add weight for the drogue,if it is deployed.Without the drogue is enough resistance to stop surfing but not enough to slow you down too much.If you have a crew(or 2) then,surf..surf,surf...and enjoy the speed.....but if you are singlehanded, you gotta get some sleep sometime,Also,,you may note from the video,I had seas coming from 3 directions,,which is a recipe for a broach!!
-
how long are the ropes and chain in the sea behind the catamaran? or how long must they be to be effective?
-
I've been living on and sailing boats most of my life,,and being a musician,I guess I had a lot of material for writing my own songs....Well...the album is out there,it's called "Fantastic Voyage" have a listen....just google "Steve Izac" you'll find it...!! Hope you enjoy...

The drag of the chain and rope in the water is what helps to keep the stern to the waves that are coming up from behind the boat...!!! ok?
-
I don't understand how the rope and chain would keep the arse to the wind...could you explain?
-
blitz is a one off german designed grp cat at 10m x5m.flat bottomed(so she surfs real easy) with one daggerboard angled in like the comanche design.I did have to redesign the rudders with skegs to give her some bight in the water when running downwind to stop her broaching..it worked but big seas can still broach you when running downwind if you don't have some drag under the water at the aft end.

how big is the catamaran
-
Hi...just wanna say,I didn't deploy the drogue, just the rope and chain. This kept the arse to the wind and allowed me to sleep, cook etc.Stil managed 6-8 knots, and much less chance of a broach!! The weather was unusuall in it's strength and continuity at that time of year and that part of the atlantic. Still had a good crossing...19 days..2560nm. Thanks for the comment!!

Thanks for the footage Steve. Like the idea of the 'drogue'.
