@force5sailor999 i love how you tell what i havent done like we are friends.. i race mtb and road bikes so i dont know a lot about sailing but i know enough anyways, your telling me when you let the sail oug no tennsion on the sail that you speed up if thats the case in sailing wrong and need to be letting the sails all the way out to go faster and all the way in most tennison i can get to slow down rofl
-
pirates of the carebean :-D
-
@aang747 its simple... you can controll how fast you go by pulling the sails tighter so if you let the sails all the way out you wont go anywhere

@v12tommy times change its not laziness that we use more accurate equipment nowadays ! the people who invented the compass were probably seen as lazy by the people who navigated by using the stars ! as people evolve so does the technology ! i bet you wouldnt use a map and compass over a sat nav/gps in your car ? does that make you lazy ?
-
@v12tommy I know that at least most people understand how to use a compass, I know in America at least, so it's not that we have gotten lazy, we've just invented more conventional tools for charting the open seas, people are lazy but not because we don't use compasses as much.
-
There on a boat, motherfucker AND like a boss.
-
I think it is funny the fact that we have gotten so lazy when it comes to modern technology, that sailing using only a compass, a feat that was normal for hundreds of years, is now a challenge.
-
I get that sailing 72 hours straight is a big deal. What I dont understand is the "challenge" of doing it with modern nav equipment. The British built and controlled the largest empire known to man without it.

They navigated one of the wildest seas, the Aegean Sea, on their 72 hour old-school voyage - only with the guidance of stars, their compass, and lighthouses. They reached the Old Harbor of Chania, in northern Greece in one piece. Sail away to http://RedBull.com _ Experience the world of Red Bull like you have never seen it before.
