new subscriber. good stuff. I have 2 allen edmonds and they are my brand of preference

A nice smart casual shoe, and much better than wearing trainers!A hint to any men 35 and over.
-
Amazing I love them :0)

Can these be resoled? Great video as always

By the way the pair in this video are not leather lined.

Horween leather is overrated. I have a leather boot from Chippewa made from Horween leather and it creases so easily and it makes it look old very quickly . The only premium aspect with Horween leather on my boot is that the leather is thick and it looks like it will last a very long time, but it just ages way too easily. I even treated the boot with Nikwax waterproofing leather treatment before wearing it out which prevents further premature wear on the leather, but that doesn't even stop the creasing.
On another note, my Sperry Top Sider Mako boot shoes utilizes EXCELLENT leather that looks brand even after over 6 months of wear and it is pretreated to be water resistant. There is almost zero creasing on my Sperry Top Sider Mako too. I bought it on sale for 60 dollars and it is an amazing shoe for everyday wear to business casual for the workplace. -
I love how you was wiggling your toes in them can you do a part 2 in those.

You should do a review of Alden 405's Indy Boots! They're really awesome looking boots and Indiana Jones on of the coolest movie characters wears them!

My go to casual summer shoes are classic Vans, I thinks it's probably a SoCal thing.
-
Allen Edmonds the most comfortable shoes out there

Rockport Perth http://www.amazon.com/Rockport-Mens-Perth-Boat-Shoe/dp/B0032ANARU the only boat shoe.

Love the video! For my generation maritime style shoes like these are everywhere. I personally go with Sperry's what's your thoughts on that brand and any experience you had with them?
-
Interesting history lesson. While we're on the topic of shoes have you ever thought about trying Xero Shoe? http://xeroshoes.com/ I've been considering purchasing a pair for pool & beach usage this summer.

Fantastic review as usual and it looks like you resolved all of your video resolution issues too! I really enjoy your channel.
-
Cool shoes! Its spelled maritime though i believe

You're tying your laces wrong! If you mirror the top part of your tie, the laces will stay better: https://www.ted.com/talks/terry_moore_how_to_tie_your_shoes?language=en and as a bonus a lifehack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPIgR89jv3Q

Go-to summer shoes - source sandals. Man, did I give those things a beating in the San Rafael Desert doing field work last summer, walking through sand, gravel and bare sandstone for over three weeks, all day, every day. Even my hiking boots, which I used less, fell apart unfortunately, but the sandals lasted for a long time and seems like they will continue to do so. When sand gets into all the nooks and crannies and also the fabric, it will destroy footwear from inside, but it doesn't seem to have done a lot of damage. Kicked a couple of cactuses though, and sandals don't offer great protection.

What kind of socks would you wear with these shoes?
-
these are my old standby, heavy and more for the fall and winter but i have worn them in the summer too.

Having grown up sailing, I can say from experience this style of herringbone tread works well on a wet, smooth surface. Does it hold up on concrete and asphalt?
Horween CXL + Heritage US Brand = Win. Detailed description below ↡ My boot playlist w/ reviews & comparos: http://tinyurl.com/h2ovkz5 Make sure to hit that subscribe button! Thanks for watching 555 Gear! The classic deck shoe is one of the most comfortable casual traditional shoe designs out there, and the Allen Edmonds Maritimes are a classic take on the style, beautifully built with Horween Chromexcel full-grain pull-up leather. In this review I cover the history of the boat shoe, an overview of AE, and my experience with these shoes, which I got at a great discount last fall. There are many choices in this style around this price range, this is a solid choice with simply breathtaking leather. They are worth considering, without any major flaws, if you can accept the idea of a pair of imported Allen Edmonds.
