The face groove tool is used to cut the groove in the wax rings show in my wood inlay rings video: http://youtu.be/I1Vug5--IYM A Taig Lathe with a diamond wheel is used to grind carbide cylinders into cutters and face groove tools. I normally grind cutters to a point and then - when I need a specific size cutter - grind the tip off to the required size. Diamond wheels seem to last forever. I use stock cnc collect extension chucks to hold the carbide blanks. These chucks use erickson style da300 collets (take up to 1/4 in diameter collets). I made the toolpost. The small cutters (3/64 diameter) I use in my ID/OD Spindles.
