Hi Riley ! My name is Philippe, I'm a french off-shore helicopter pilot. Sorry but what people told you about distress mirror is completely....wrong !!! ;-) Did you notice the red ring around the hole ? THAT is the aiming device ! You just have to aim something close to you and move your mirror until you see a red patch through the hole. After that move your mirror to your target (e.g a plane or a boat) keeping the red patch ON your target, so you know your mirror is flashing to the target. If you loose the red patch, come back to the procedure, and find it close to you before aiming a long distance target. Easy and really effective ! I've seen all your videos, trying to improve my english...but your accent Riley....hard for me ! I understand better Elayna !! ;-) kisses.

Great channel R+E! congrats on all your success and overcoming adversity. Now that you are seasoned sailors, please please please use the language of sailors instead of lubbers. Galley, Head, Cabin! just sayin.

Elayna, For powering your laptop (and other devices), look into direct DC to DC power. Converting from battery to AC, and back to DC wastes a TON of power, so it will be much less of a strain if you can power your devices without the conversion. It of course depends on the input voltage of your laptop and the native voltage of your boat, but it may be worth a look if you find yourself running the generator a lot. Great videos, and keep on adventuring!

Riley and Elayna!! Just watched Outremer's videos of the building and launching of your newr Cat! My god you must be so stoked--I have been watching your blogs for about a year now, and I have been so impressed by what you are undertaking, and the great positive attitudes you have exhibited on your journeys. So nice to see good people take on a challenge, and not always be bitching about it. I also have a vlog here on Youtube, not as popular as yours, but know how difficult it is to do one on land, so GOOD ON YA both, and can't wait for the videos on the new Cat! xoxoBEN

Im a Mexican pig farmer and I concur with the way you held the signal mirror. Felicidades!
-
Don't believe a word that midget circus dwarf says to you - flew me into the eye of a cyclone one day - Hahahah - Sammy Liston ! ( top bloke )
-
Also dont mind my foul mouth and sour personality . I am just an grumpy old fart ! I just want you kids to be safe .
-
By the way Riley you should make your boat safer if not for yourself at least for your lovely girl Elena ! I dont know what she sees in you but you should at least be safer out at sea numb nuts !!
-
I wonder how you will signal a plane when floating in the middle of the ocean beacause you did not hook on to you jack lines which I see you have never shown on you videos ? maybe its time not just to clean and repair on a video but show us what the hell you do for safety ?? this means you Riley ( AKA shit for brains that hates safety )!!

Elay, there's a organisation called globetops that will take your old laptop and fix it up for donating to a person who needs one (all over the world).
-
Nice to see you two together again.

My life goal is to get this type of boat (or an older model) by the time I'm 21, I'm 15. So I will see you at sea in 6 years. If I'm lucky.
This was completely inspired from your videos and I just love the idea of sailing the sea's!
I live on the coast of California and it is a dream of mine to sail to Hawaii! -
Cheerful and lovely :) Hooray for progress!

After our flag line was cut during a drift dive in the gulf stream me an a buddy used our masks to reflect sunlight to signal the boat about 800 yards away. That information can save your life for sure!
Follow us on Instagram for more up to date locations on La Vaga! http://www.instagram.com/elayna__c/ http://www.instagram.com/riley.whitelum/ She needed a good clean out, that’s for sure. Did anyone see the filth behind the stove on the daily vlogs? Yep? Pretty gross hey. We clean the entire boat head to toe and Riley fixes a few things that were either broken before the crossing or broke during. She feels like a new boat again!! Maybe we don’t need a catamaran and we can stay on this new fresh La Vaga forever… We just need some fruit in the fruit nets and life is officially good and back to normal. IT’S GOOD TO BE HOME.
