As the song was co-written by Paul Weston, Jo Stafford's husband, I think it's fairly safe to say that her version was the original.
In Billboard magazine, the versions by both Jo Stafford (Columbia) and Dolores Gray (Decca) were reviewed as new releases in the issue dated 3 November 1951, while Bill Farrell (MGM) and Dick Beavers (Capitol) were reviewed two weeks later.

The first entry in are Forgotten 45's series. You may be familiar with the song, but you've probably never heard this rendition or the artist. This song with made popular by singer Jo Stafford, but Bill Farrell very well may have been the first to release it. Subscribe to our site and channel for future entries into Forgotten 45's!
I'm looking for a more rock and roll version of this song.
