Fabulous film here. I remember being aboard the Aberdeen Trawler 'Alexander Bruce' after it returned from a trip to Iceland early 1960's. The men from Aberdeen, Fleetwood, Granton, Grimsby and Hull certainly went great distances to catch prime quality fish for us. The owners, skippers and managers were very well compensated but the trawler crews were not so well rewarded and were undoubtedly underpaid for the dreadfully dangerous work they had to do. Nothing new here then ! Even after UK government legislation over the last few years, many men have not been treated fairly...although much noise was 'put up' in support of them. The above industrious Trawler ports, along with many others were sold down the river by dishonest UK politicians...sold to the EU who's fisheries policy has obliterated the UK's fishing industry and communities. Nothing new here either then ! And here was us thinking that the UK government was in place to ensure a fair deal and decency for us first. Ah well...we are learning here also a few horrible truths.

This video in conjunction with the music I was listening too made my eyes a bit watery. The big steam trawlers and times like those out on the water are gone and I was brought into the world to late to experience them.
Location unspecified. GV of trawlers and fishing protection vessels sailing through very rough seas, shots of trawlermen and naval personnel at work, trawlermen gutting fish, naval officers leaving a trawler at sea, trawlermen drinking rum ration, scenes on the bridge, radar scanner on ship, waves breaking over bows, trawlers tied up alongside, rough seascapes. MS single gull in flight. LS island from ship at sea LS the Royal Yacht Britannia in rough sea. cuts of Pathe news 64-68 FILM ID:3104.22 A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
