now it's 40$ US, cheap ass packaging too. oh well they are capitalizing on the fact that it's the only option under 100$....

how do you put it back together?

Have you experienced any scratching of the negative with this?

I'm planning to buy a big batch of 35mm trailers and this will be perfect to use.

yes and no. If you somehow attach a razor blade at the exit (where the film comes out), it would cut the film like a normal film splitter. The the problem with this film cutter is the film has enough room to wiggle, so your split wouldn't be straight. if you goto subclub dot org, there's a great section on how to split film. You can even buy one of their film splitters. What type of film did you want to make?

is it possible to cut the film into strips instead of single frames for example a strip of 3 6x6 negatives

That's great!! & I'll help you along the way if you need a hand.

Here is my cheap film cutter I bought off ebay for around $10. I don't have steady hand with scissors so this little splicer really helps me out. There are many types of film cutters/splicers on ebay. Most are 8mm/16mm motion film splicers, but there are some 35mm cutters as well. You can pay big bucks for a backlit splicer but I find the generic one more portable. I like cutting film while watching tv using the lamp as my light source. Anyways, if you can find a cutter for cheap pick one up. They are great investments.
