Stream WZTV Fox 17 Newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5am and News at 9pm. Tom Morales just opened the Acme on lower Broadway. Now the entrepreneur wants to bring a different taste to Nashville with Formula 1 Boat Racing. Tom Morales says, " In Europe, its the number one spectating sport, Asia and Australia it's big so Nashville is on that cutting edge and I thought let's do it here." Morales' friend, and Formula 1 multi-champion driver, Chris Fairchild says it's a combination of three extreme sports. Chris Fairchild says, " Airplane racing because we fly the boats on top of the water. Indy cars because we have a lot of the same technology and look like Indy cars, and super-cross because our track is always changing." The boats are always turning at 120 mph most times. Dana Potts, Fairchild's representative says, " Tom and some city officials it was interesting they looked us like we were crazy and said there's no way boats can turn that fast. We're like let us come down and show you." Pott's and Fairchild came down with others to test the Cumberland today. Chris Fairchild says, " The width is our big concern and spectator safety." Formula 1 boat racing can bring out a crowd from 30,000- to 500,000 according to organizers. Morales says, "It brings people downtown that wouldn't normally come downtown it gives them another reason to come downtown.It's good for business."
