those look like model rocket engines. they have a small charge that explodes to eject the parachute thats probably why it exploded. cool burn though!!

Once we were finished blowing up the R/C car, we had plenty of time to do the same to an R/C boat in the pool. God only knows what my poor parents paid in cleaning fees for the pool after this mess. (I am sure that WD-40 in the pool really helped...)
