From one Pennsylvanian to another I love your videos and I enjoy you looking at these boats because it helps me to learn about how i should purchase a boat and any other thing like houses, cars, etc.
-
I am learning so much watching your video.
-
I would agree. I really like the Moody 34 as well in terms of lay out from the boats you have featured in your videos.
-
Thank you for sharing your experience, very cool thing to do! Don't wait too long to pull the trigger on buying a boat. Find something you're interested in, make a good deal on her. If it doesn't work out, sell her and move on!

Check out the Seafarer 38C. A gret blue water boat with lots of room and a great price.

Boats are like trees, they are everywhere. Don't settle for less than your dream boat. We will all love seeing it when you find it. Happy hunting, and make it fun.

Keep looking Vin. Don't make the mistake I did. Save some more, and get the RIGHT boat without compromise. Keep the vids coming, we will keep the comments flowing.....

Hey Vin, you have looked at a lot of boats time for you to get brand specific and narrow your search. Personally I don't think you can go wrong with the Ericson or Ontario both good boats if might ever want to look into an old Hughes 38. I wouldn't be so concerned with a fin keel for ocean sailing. Keep in mind the safest crossing is a fast crossing. Nautor's Swan is one of the finest yachts make and can be found travelling all the worlds oceans. Oh, and guess what they have fin keels and spade rudders. Cheers, Bill S.V. Felice Bear

I'd take that Cruising 31 (it's not an Independence 31) anywhere. You're references are ill-informed.

I know it's a bit unconventional (Big Carbon fiber, free standing mast) and a few people will have their doubts but have you looked at any Freedom boats" They look well built and easy to single hand.

I was surprised you rejected the Bayfield so quickly, it is one of several that is on my short list. I like the full keeled boats. I am in TN and my catalina 22 hits bottom in my shallow but large lake. So if I ever make it to the ocean maybe ill get to go shopping like you are...

Hi there from eastern Canada. Just a reminder we have lots of boats for sale down here in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI. Close to New England, ( you could sail home) and you get 25% more buying power on your dollar because of exchange. try Kijiji under sailboats for Saint John, Halifax or other destinations.
We have been buying boats in your area and either trucking them or sailing them down for years. The exchange is really good for you to take one back home. -
We had a friend that him and his wife would not settle for second best and looked for 6 years. we buried him last year and his wife has moved in with their kids. Find a good safe boat and look for your boat as you cruise the coasts . the one your looking for will surface when you least expect it.

Maybe just buy the coastal cruiser for now and then trade it in for "THE" boat when you're ready and have more experience. If you pick the right boat, you'll likely be able to sell it for about what you paid for it. I had a friend who bought (correction: stole) an early 80's Catalina 30 for about $8,500 (with a brand new 21hp diesel!), then sold it a few years later for $15,000 after extensively cruising the northeast coast. You can easily get a Catalina 34 within your price range, have fun, live aboard, learn, then move on later with a better understanding of what you like and what you want.

Oh it's out there buddy, and I can't wait to see the video when you find it. Best of luck

+Sailing Nervous The boat in your price range is out there. We bought a very ocean worthy 39' boat for under 45k and honestly it is ready to sail the world right now. What I am doing to mine is more for me personally than what she actually needs. We did however look for over a year until we found "THE ONE" with the knowledge we may have to buy one far from home and sail it home. Our search area was the entire west cost of the U.S. and mexico.

This boat might be of interest. -
You sure do have a lot of video's just shopping for a boat; I know there are a lot of brands. If you are planning on going out into the big ponds why look at boats that are not ocean worthy. Don't get me wrong I spent a great deal of time looking for what would do what I wanted. But I did a great deal of research learning what brands and models would meet my needs. I do enjoy the tour of boats though.
