I'll stick with the Amel 64 thanks.

Dude, the "non-owners side" is called a guest cabin.

Great videos. What do you think of the Antares 44i ? They seem to be very professional, and that boat seems to meet all your requirements ? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Po8INIC9Pw )

You need to buy a caravan not a boat.

I'm pretty sure the majestic is basically two stretched royal cape one design hulls stuck together. The royal cape one design was a pretty quick monohull designed and built in South Africa in the early 70's. The moulds were snapped up by royal cape catamarans, the builders of the original 50' design. The 53 basically got some extended sugar scoops and more weight. The catamarans enemy and will destroy even the raciest cats performance.
So if you plan to chill at an anchorage and not do too much sailing then this boat may work. But IMHO I wouldn't want to cross an ocean on one. -
The majestic is an old hull design, heavy because of all the extras and obviously slow as a result.
The outremar is a fast light boat. Will point much higher than the others, mainly because of the dagger boards. And will suffer more from loading with too many extras in the performance department.
The st Francis 50 is an excellent hull design and is a good compromise. I think if you can find a good second hand example that will be a great choice. They are scarce tho.
The thing to remember about a catamaran is there are three major points one needs to bear in mind. Speed, economy and lightness. One can generally have two of them in a boat, but without unlimited budget all three are seldom attainable.
It's all about compromise
Enjoy. -
i am looking at st francis 50..if money is no object is the xquisite x5 better...thanks for your feedback

Have you seen an Antares 44i?

We have been searching extensively for a good, safe live aboard for our family of five (two adults + 3 teenage daughters) to circumnavigate for a couple of years.... really fell in love with the Majestic 530 after your introduction - so thank you for introducing :). No matter what we have seen before, in between and/or after - we keep on coming back to the Majestic.
Some interesting posts by fellow owners/cruisers .... http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/f48/royal-cape-catamaran-36335.html -
Sorry to ask a controversial question but, what do you think of Hunter boats as bluewater cruisers? Also, do you recommend going to a sailing school or learning on your own?
-
1.2 mill..... Ya, that's why I didn't look at custom models. I'll stick with a lagoon 450. My wife loved the Maverick wood. I though it felt sparse inside with no roof or wall liners.

Have you looked at the Atlantic cruising yacht new vs used video and breakdown?

great videos guys :)

Awesome stuff! I'm a recently retired NYPD detective, and we are on the eve of setting out from Wilmington NC for Florida and then on to the Bahamas on a catamaran. A really small catamaran. We're on a Catalac 8M (27'), that we were able to buy outright before I retired. We took her up the ICW from Marathon Key to NC, and are now provisioning for our first real cruise. Love those dream boats... but still looking forward to trying life aboard our 2 hulled floating tiny house. Good luck and be safe out there!

Really liked your series on the boat show! Nice job! Also liked how you went about selecting those cats you would consider buying. Looking forward toward other videos you post!
THANKS! πππππ. β΅β΅β΅β΅β΅ -
Greetings again Janice & Craig. So let me get this straight. The only way that Janice will go cruising in retirement, is on a Catarman? Β Great one Janice, you have your head screwed on my wife just said. Mind you, if Janice were to flash those long eyelashes at me, my heart would also melt instantly and Janice would win every time! Now I have recovered from where you said to Janice "#^&^$#>>^%#%!" "How did you live to record another day is what I am wondering,?" And I closed my eyes when Janice took you into that large shower! However, we are next confronted with the issue that Janice just loves the "Maverick 44," even though some of the furnishings on the "Majestic 50" match Janice's dress and her handbag! So I think the decision is clear, that you are done for my friend and unless Craig learns how to bow for Janice, "head room on the Maverick 44," then I fear that Craig might be left behind "l.o.l!" Oh, what's that you say? Comprise! Welcome to marriage my friend! And lastly, what were you thinking? You need a 50+ foot cat to take all of us with you! As you know, we have a 62 foot cat and we just love it and the lifestyle that accompanies it! Thanks again for sharing.

I like many things with the Majestic like the full tubed instead of life lines. I like the washer/dryer in the cockpit and how they hid the Control panel in the cabinet. I do love the St Francis over all other cats so far and they are very flexible just like RCC to include and change after your wishes. You can even make a cabin into an office, and by doing that you dont need that extra head and can make that into something else. I like both the StF and RCC hard top enclosure. Similar to that of Antares 44, but that is a much smaller yacht and also very expensive for it's size and the fact that it is made in a low-cost country. What I love most about the St Francis I guess is the nav station. Did you have a look and compare many of the specs with Majestic 530 vs St Francis 50?I know you dont want speed - just saying St Francis is one of the fastest cruising cats.Majestic got a really low clearance below. Only 72cm - risk for slapping. You price in the video is wrong on St Francis 50. Sail away price is $830K. A dive compressor is not all in the World, you can fit one really good for less then $5000. Unless your into diving charters you dont need anything bigger than that.I am choosing between St Francis and a Rapido - cant make up my mind.
This is the final part in our series comparing the various Catamarans at the Annapolis Sailboat Show. In this episode, we focus on the "boutique" or custom boat builders that are designed with the live-aboard in mind. We looked at the Xquisite X5 50', the Voyage 48', the Majestic 530, the St Francis 50', the Outremer 51', the Balance 52, and the Maverick 440. We then compare them to the production catamarans we covered in the previous episodes and we finish the video by giving you a list of our favourite boats under 45' and Over 45' in both the production and custom builders.
