That's not a ship, that is a hovercraft. That is why it is okay for it to plow on to a beach. The only thing they did wrong was go onto the beach with a bunch of people there.

My guess is there is actually an estuary inlet we can't see from this angle, and the hovercraft is about a mile away from people in reality.

Fools, this is a beach that is routinely used for military exercise. The military is nice enough to let civilians use it. Personally I would have been thankful for the show.
