I can tell you that a properly sharpened end mill cuts just as good as a new one. In the heydays of tool and die job shops, (60,s 70s, 80s) seldom did you use a new end mill. if you wanted a new end mill you had better have a good reason. Tool and cutter grinding businesses were everywhere. Now I'm having trouble finding someone to sharpen mine.

to change the rolling pin and your huille here put a lot of noise

That looks great! I recently inherited an old "universal" style tool & cutter grinder but I don't have any tooling or jigs/fixtures for it. Just wheels and a magnetic chuck for surface grinding. I wish your video showed more so I could see how the end mill was held and controlled.

What disc have you got, could you let me know make, model number, I may get one for my surface grinder seems to make a nice job. Rob

Looks like the diamond wheel did a good job on the HSS endmill. I was watching the old timer at the shop I use to work for, he told me never to use a diamond wheel on HSS only carbide. I never questioned him now I wonder why?

Good for you. It doesn't hurt to try on an old end mill. If it works, anything that can save a few bucks is a plus.

Russian clone of a cincinnati no 2 tool and cutter grinder the end mill was a beater with chunks taken out all over the place but it turned out well probably not doing it 100% correct but you have to start some where
