I wish we could have crash landings, then have to basically drop our SRV to repair the ship or reboot the ship if the damage isn't that bad. SRV should have repair tools on it, allowing for repairing any damages to engines and hull of the ship when landed or crash landed. There should be other ways to get SRV out too, say rear hatch to drop out? Land on a planet mostly sand? Dig it nose out from sand... Land on a planet mostly rocks? Flip it over and start repairing the ship. We should also see more biodiversity of planet's surface... like some sand, some rocks, some loose rubble, and maybe some that are liquid metal... things like that.

your unread message gave me the itches

Remember that video watching first time and watching it now while my Cutter have 7K shield. :D

Planet crashing in this game is so pathetic. But what I expect from a game that have already retarded crashes. I remember flying sidewinder into asteroid in training missions at high speed where ship just bounced off and waited to explode xD
In later game experience I had similar adventures with huge massive objects where my ship bounced off and waited to explode. Whoever made this game mechanics for me is total retard that have no shame about his totally retarded knowledge about physics :) -
get that ship in a 90 degree angle

I think your mistake was you were applying the atmospheric landing principles and were trying to land your ship like a space shuttle, which works when there is atmosphere - it slows down the ship. Rocky planets such as our moon were approached in history by orbiting them with high horizontal speeds and slowly reducing the altitude. This way you can also see the surface clearly. And then, when close to the surface, slowing down.

It would have been very easy if you hadn't rushed it so much!! Challenge excepted, except for the small fact that I'm still in an adder.

Fun video, Now try landing on HD 148937 3. Lots of fun at 9.7g or thereabouts

What is the music in 6:45?

I've got a really cool planet you guys should check out "othel 5" it's a ring planet, no atmosphere so you can land but be forewarned it has 14.5 earth masses which I assume is 14g. I had a smuggling mission to go there in my asp and I almost slammed into the planet on a very shallow approach, if it wasn't for my A rated thrusters and A rated pwr distriber I would of slammed into the surface like the clipper in this video, it has a surface city you can also land at.... really cool place check it out with caution

never had problems with landing on high grav planets, just slow down and look on instruments ( bdw i got anaconda - its heavy ship to :P )

Hm, this doesn't look well when the idea is to land on full size planets. Yes, they'll have air resistance but that's not enough to keep a space ship up.
-
What system was this with the high grav planet?

I only tried the Achenar Challenge once, with a disposable Viper-III, but I landed and launched safely. :)

7:27 nailed it

I'm curius how do you manage to get all of the third person shots outside of using the camera. But your look so much prettier and done so much easier than when I try it.

You don't need a better hud to see the planet, just roll
8m 37sLength
I take a large ship to a high gravity 6g world to see what happens when I attempt to land there.
On top of that, they have to be able to sustain large projectiles and lasers....
