Wonder how many many times the staging rope has caught a rear wing...that can't end well

Ski race boats in Auatralia have 2 gears.

Do I hear these shifting gears? Been wondering since I was about 10 yrs old why boats didnt have at least two gears.... I mean its not that hard to pull off. Probably a power issue....most boat engines have their hands full with one forward gear.... Add a Blower and Nitro....and add some more forward gears is my guess. Did I get it right? Anyone?
Still I've always wanted another gear on some of my inboards....and maybe I will play with the idea....give some of those Ole Torque Flights a new lease on life.... LOL -
big and bad engines

Sound at 0:40 two engines almost in sync.
-
they are shifting - some boats have had 2 speed trannys for years. Probably a Lenco air operated type. We raced a Sanger Hydro back in the 70's that had a Lenco 2 speed. You just mashed a big button on the dash to shift. Did 154 mph in the 1/4 at the aqua festival one year called BGH Blown Gas Hydro.

sounds a bit like shifting a gear up at 0:08. what is it? nice sound!
