Lovely images, thanks for sharing your trip and allowing us to hear and enjoy the amazing bird life, but then you add the backing muzak which seems so irrelevant and contrasting. Perfection does not need a backing track, unless it is played or created by you and enhances the film.

Has moose been taken to the Vet yet...? I contributed to the GoFundMe account set up for him... Hope the boy is doing well.

I just the long comment on Mooses state. It's awesome that so many people now care for him. He is probably far much happier where he is, than if someone would grab him and take him home. He has been there for such a long time it is his home. And he didn't look underweight or anything. He looked healthy and happy.

impi. Just joshing ya. He is a domestic animal. Survival is based on his ability to forage and hunt. Seriously ..one illness or injury and he's done. Nature ..though beautiful..is heartless.

So. the dog starved to death ...or perhaps just died of loneliness...lol

I see that you enjoy your sailing, happy for the two of you. My concern is the abandoned dog, these animals are social in nature, every day must be hell. Can Moose drink this water ? In a very few years, Moose will feel his age, why not rescue this poor beast ?

no engine no sound just sailing great! please stop the stupid music

MOOSE !!! What a champ, thank you again for sharing your journey

Liked this video so much we named our new dog Casey. It seemed fitting, he was a abandoned dog in Hawaii.

I would love to go and live on that Island with Moose. Its sad that he was left there all alone but he seems happy and is doing well...Good luck Moose, you are adorable..I enjoy your videos very much, thanks to you both for sharing your lives with all of us, cheers ...

That dog has an amazing soul...and you guys do too.

What a poor dog alone on a island. I think you will be his best fiend when you bring next time a female dog with you. He will appreciate that more then the food you bring I think.
It is incredible a dog that be your guide on his island.......
What a great video again man. It touched my heart -
Nice video and a lovely dog.

Hi Brent,
I would love to see a sequel video about Moose the abandoned Island dog. Allow me to suggest a few important shots you might take: Mousse catching a fish and eating it, Mousse drinking water from the rigged contraptions, Mousse sleeping
at night (maybe he sleeps in the abandoned resort), and most importantly I would like to see him as he welcomes you to the Island, his initial reaction
upon seeing you. I know not all is possible and whatever you show of Mousse is good enough.
Bon Voyage !

This story just keeps me wondering.... The dog's owner was probably the owner of the resort, and when he abandoned the resort he also abandoned the dog. Under what circumstances did the resort close down ? Someone here commented that "the surrounding Kanak people did not like the resort." But why did they not like it ? They must have had a good reason. What was going on on that resort ? Monkey business ? Can the owner of the resort be tracked down to tell the story of the resort and the dog ?

It's not like someone dumped the dog on the island and took off. The dog was probably born on the island and raised there. Therefore the island is the dog's natural home. So the decision to leave him there was correct in my opinion. Besides, the dog's behavior did not reflect any willingness to leave. He could have tried to jump into the dingy or tried to swim after it but he didn't. Dogs will always jump into your car if they want to join you.

I am subbed to many sailing videos such as vagabondo. and delos. but I think I enjoy yours way more. I like T and A bit you have shown its not a must to have a google video. thanks a lot mate and
fair winds. -
....when you say "poisson, poisson" ("fish, fish" Moose speaks French) he dives into the water from the dock
....Illot Casy, in the middle of Prony Bay. It is a small island, about 80 acres, that used to have a resort on it, but the surrounding Kanak people didn't like the resort and successfully petitioned to have it closed.
From another blog. -
I find it comforting that places like that still exist. Thank you for the video. I wonder how long Moose has been there? My nickname was Moose when I was a young man because I was a big guy. Bien Merci Mon Ami GR

After viewing this compelling story, I was hooked! You have a new subscriber. What a difficult decision; I agree with you and think you made the correct one. Moose is in his element and thriving. I must admit, the tears came when he had the coconut on the pier waiting for you. Looking forward to more of your amazing adventures.

Sailing around the world, Catamaran Impi is in New Caledonia and one stop en-route Ile Des Pins sees us visit an abandoned Island Dog called Moose on Casy Island. Also in this video is the picturesque Baie Uie with its magical river and terrific bird sounds ... We sail in winds from ahead which requires some tacking ... We hope you enjoy the journey with us :)
