Nice job, that looks tough.

80 ft yatch with no bow thruster....really?
-
Shit, that's a big ass yacht!
-
I guess I don't get it since the vessel has dual stern powered capstans? Why would you not simply go clutch ahead and just winch back? Also the fenders were not adjusted properly for the vessel to port and in being unsure of the closing stern distance why no stern fenders?

Cote d'Azur in the Monte Carlo region: totally overcrowded...

Gut gemacht, auch mit Kinder....
-
why the space was so tight ? seems many people have a yacht but not enough space to dock.
-
You are absolutely right about the kids.

This was a difficult manouever in any circumstances - but luckily there wasn't much wind to complicate things.Should he have dropped the bow anchor - or anchors - early? No I don't think so . That would have committed him to mooring in that slot come what may..The only mistake the Captain made is not ordering all those damn kids wandering around the stern back below decks to keep them out of the way of the crew.
-
Because he needed various tries and all in all it took about 20 minutes. Apart from that he should have thrown the anchor in the first place before slowly moving back. This would have made it a lot easier...

The captain did an incredible job....Not sure why you said "better, but not really good"

80 feet yacht landing in a tight slot between two big boats. The skipper has no visibility and depends on the deck hand giving directions via a walkie-talkie. First attemps is aborted because risk of cutting ancor rope of port side ship. Second attempt better but not really good. The whole maneuver took around 20 minutes...
