I have cut the tubes in half and now it is a quadramaran. The shorter tubes ( 10') make it easier to transport and turn. Because the tubes don't bend so much, the chair sits about 6" higher - no more wet rear.
My" long tail" 750 watt electric motor works great, but only for 5 minutes. Then it overheats. Don't use a winch motor like I did. Get one that is possible to cool. -
Looks like fun. Are there calculations for determining the weight capacity on this type of DIY craft? Is it possible to have two seats (one parent, one child)?

build a sit down catamaran paddle board / kayak in 2 hours. I used 4" sewer tubes tied to the side of a chair to float the chair and myself in the sea of cortez. This diy boat cost about $30 plus a lawn chair. It took about 2 hours to build, only because I had to move the tubes outside the chair for more stability.
each tube should support 2x your weight, if you are concerned about capsizing, or plan to sail it. My next one will be 8" if it is for one person
